Ruth’s Redemption | Marlene Banks

January 19, 2019 by Jamie Leave a Comment

First I have to say, this publisher-sends-me-a-book-to-review business is awesome. I promise you, I will never pass up a free book, especially if it’s historical fiction surrounding the Civil war.

Ruth’s Redemption by Marlene Banks (Life Every Voice Books/Moody Publishers.com) is just that. It follows the lives of Ruth and Bo (a freed slave) prior to the outbreak of the Civil War. Slavery, freedom and fighting for what’s right is mixed in with a slight retelling of Ruth and Boaz’s story of the bible.

It wasn’t a bad read and I’m glad I had the opportunity to read it. Banks created characters you grow to love or hate. It’s an inspiring story line that I walked away from encouraged.

If I had to equate my thoughts on Ruth’s Redemption to how I rate moves, I would say watch it (it is a good story), but I wouldn’t be standing in line at midnight for the premiere, I’d wait for the DVD.
