Welcome to another Walking Dead recap! As always, this post has spoilers from the episode, so if you haven’t seen it yet, feel free to read previous recaps first!
So for about 3 days before the finale my stomach started hurting. That is a 100% true statement and Sunday was the worst. I actually had to work on Sunday and could barely get things done. If things don’t make sense co-workers, blame it on The Walking Dead.
Alright, here we go. Things start off with Negan’s whistle a.k.a. Every Intro to Your Nightmares Song. We cut to Morgan who finds a horse. Sweet baby has no friends, but at least the horse is alive and I don’t have to see it get eaten by a herd of walkers.
The one guy Carol didn’t shoot is still walking in the fields and he’s holding Carol’s necklace. I’m not sure if he’s just trying to make it back to his crew or if he’s tracking Carol.
Carl is gathering material to take Maggie to Hill Top. Enid wants to go, but he doesn’t want her to go. She fights it and so he asks her to grab some pistols and he locks her in the closet. Whoa. Sasha, Abraham and Eugene also go for the ride. Then Aaron joins in too. Geez. Why is everyone going? This is not good for my nerves. Father G has turned into the General these days. He has a plan and a mission to keep everyone staying behind safe.
Speaking of the saviors, they chased down some guy, told him that he and his group did wrong and then started beating him up. Then they drag him into the highway and it looks like they’re waiting for some folks to show up to “make an example of him.”
Morgan is cruising on his horse down a street and what do you know – he finds Carol curled up by a door. She’s injured, but I couldn’t tell if it was serious or not.
Our crew is back to and cruising down the highway. Poor Maggie. Y’all. Even Rick’s little speech did nothing to calm my nerves.
Turns out Carol was stabbed and also turns out she needs stitches and antibiotics. Morgan says they’ll leave at dawn to get help and Carol’s like “nope.” Cool. That makes all us viewers feel just swell.
Then our group comes upon the saviors. It’s like a replay of when Daryl, Sasha and Abraham encountered that one early saviors’ group. They all get out and come in “peace.” The leader gives the same ol same speech of “gives us everything and we’ll kill one of you.” Rick isn’t having it. They claim that’s the only deal, so Rick says their leaving. Then there’s some strange talks about “being kind to each other and being the last day on earth.” What does this all mean people….what does this all mean? NOT MY PEOPLE!
Eugene and Sasha are figuring out a new route and find one that takes a third longer, but they gotta do what they gotta do.
Morgan tells Carol that more than just him went looking for Carol. He reminds them that they care about her, but Carol is in the mind set that since she cares about them too, that’s why she can’t be there. Carol tries to explain her reasons to Morgan: “If you care about people, they are people you have to protect. If you don’t want to kill or you can’t, you have to get away from them. You do not get both.”
Morgan is refusing to leave without Carol, so she does the “pull a gun trick,” but nothing comes of it, of course. She just can’t anymore and walks away.
While driving the RV, Abraham asks Sasha if she could do what Maggie and Glenn did. She turns it around to him and he said yeah he could, just so Sasha knows. Oh you’re thinking happy thoughts? Great…that means something BAD IS GOING TO HAPPEN.
They pull up on another group of jerk faces. Have I mentioned MY STOMACH HURTS?! They start backing away and the jerks send up some firing signals. The RV turns around. This is the longest game of cat and mouse and MAKE JAMIE PASS OUT ever. Why do I watch this show?
We’re back to Morgan. He finds that walker making all the noise. It was a poor soul who hung himself, so he’s just been dangling for a while. Morgan climbs up and takes care of him and then cuts him down. He goes back to Carol and what do you know…SHE’S GONE. The sign above him was a good reminder: “FICTION.” I must remember that this is what this show is. And also to breathe.
Our crew is realizing that this group is much bigger than they thought. The next road block is a group of walkers tied up. Worst game of red rover ever. That is some nasty of all nasty. But before they take them out, they find pieces of clothing and such from Michonne and Daryl. Then they start getting fired on. Rick manages to handle the Red Rover of Death and off they go.
Rick figures out that they’re leading them into a specific place. Maggie is burning up and what do you know, they come across a massive group of jerk faces. Rick says to go back, but Abraham responds accurately with “where?”
Morgan finds a dead guy with Carol’s necklace, but before you go think it was that one guy…FALSE. That guy comes out of nowhere and jumps Carol. Then he gets the gun. He shoots her in the arm and watches her suffer. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Who would like to provide my therapy?
So now is the point when my sickness turns into overdrive. Rick tells Maggie everything is okay, she says she believes in him, Rick is crying and I’m about to throw up.
Back to Carol. She’s smiling and it angers the guy with the gun. She says she’s going to die so everything is alright, what does he do? Shoots her in the leg. Then he starts walking away, but comes back at her. He’s about to end it and then Morgan shows up with the gun. And dannngggggg, he isn’t mess around. Then some sweet looking Storm Troopers show up and I think they’ll be okay. I can’t worry about it otherwise.
Our crew comes across yet another barrier, this time a bunch of tree logs. Then the jerk faces light them up on fire. They also throw that one dude over the bridge and he dies. These people ARE TWISTED. Eugene had some kind of plan, I think it involves burning something up. I didn’t really hear because I was trying to breathe. It involves splitting up because Eugene gives him his plan of bullet making. No. No. No. No. Abraham and Eugene share a sweet goodbye, I started crying and I HATE THIS SHOW.
Eugene takes a major one for the team and drives the RV away as Rick and crew take Maggie out and to the Doctor.
Our crew is walking through the forest and what do we hear? THAT BLOODY WHISTLE. They start running and they run right into the whole group. They are surrounded and I’m still hoping this is all a nightmare. Then we see poor Eugene was once again caught.
They take all their weapons and make them get all on their knees. Poor Maggie looks almost done and Eugene is beat up pretty bad. Rick’s face says it all: He knows something horrendous is about to happen and he’s scared.
Then who walks out? LOSER Dwight. But he pulls out Michonne, Daryl, Rosita and Glenn. Now I can be utterly destroyed emotionally.
Then walks out Negan. I won’t be able to look at Jeffrey Dean Morgan for the next 7 years (I don’t care how attractive the man is). He gives a speech about how much Rick is going to regret crossing him in the next few minutes. I cannot handle Rick actually being scared. He gives him the speech about working for them…aka giving them half of their stuff. Blah, blah, blah…this will clearly go into next season. Then he gives the lesson that they will be punished. He doesn’t want to kill them because he wants to have them work for them. What does he say? He’s going to beat someone with Lucille. He’s sick.
Negan starts to go after Maggie, Glenn jumps out of line, but then Negan says to put him back in line. I have some very not nice words to say about Negan. Negan figures out Carl is Rick’s son and Rick almost flips. He claims he can’t decide, so he starts doing “eeny meeny miny moe.” Y’all.
I’m not sure who he chose to beat (to death). Sickening. I had to cover my ears even though the it was a black screen because nope. I’m not sure who it was though. I don’t think it’s Carl. He said he would take out his other eye if anyone moves. This show will be dead to me if it’s Daryl, so I’m crossing him off. Not Rick. Hmm….What are your thoughts?!
Well, if you need me, I’ll be in therapy hating this show until October. In the meantime share your thoughts below or on Facebook!
