Welcome to another Walking Dead recap! As always, this post has spoilers from the episode, so if you haven’t seen it yet, feel free to read previous recaps first!
The episode starts off back in Alexandria, like the good ol days of people on watch (even Eugene). A chunk of time must have passed because Morgan was able to put together his cage. Why? Because he claims it will give them some choices next time.
I thought I was losing it, but they repeated a bunch of the beginning scenes, but second time around at the end they showed Rosita and Spencer were together. Not sure if it’s a fling or more. I’m calling rebound.
Carol and Daryl have a chat about his returned bike and talking about the people who stole it from him. Carol feels bad, but he thinks he should have killed them. Daryl senses something is up and so he asks what the people did to her and Maggie. Her response is a bit cryptic and she says “they didn’t do anything.”
It took a bit, but they’re into this flashback style of storytelling. Interesting….
So we’re back to some love drama with Spencer and Rosita. Spence just wants clarification and Rosita is just a bowl full of cherries about it. Denise walks out and says “I didn’t hear you guys.” Haha!
Denise remembers an apothecary, so she convinces Daryl and Rosita to take her since it isn’t far. This can’t be good, especially since she calls them “roamers.” She also makes fun of Daryl for not knowing how to drive a stick well. Ha! She cracks me up! Naturally instead of smooth sailing, they comes across a tree that’s blocking the road. Oh what joy. They have to get out of the car because of the tree and Daryl refuses to take the tracks; meaning they are going to be out longer. My feelings about this are exactly as you think they would be.
Eugene and Abraham are out on a run together (still weird to see) and having life chats. Eugene spits out a bunch of nonsense, but the cliff notes version is he has changed and has become a survivor. They end up in some strange looking shop and I was with Abraham about “spilling the pintos” and what is it? Making bullets. Interesting indeed! Can we talk about him calling dibs, but still needing Abraham to take out the walker and his revolutionary-era pony tail? There’s a bunch of sass in the air and Eugene drops that he no longer needs Abraham’s services. I mean what?! So Abraham does what I thought he would do, he leaves.
Our other crew finds the shop. There’s all kinds of nasties hand prints, but hopefully that means there are no walkers inside ready to attack. Apparently it smells like fresh flowers because Denise almost loses her breakfast. They hit the jackpot of medicine and they hear one in a closet, so Denise decides she needs to take it out to be useful. She finds the walker and discovers an insanely depressing scene of what the mother did to her baby. I could have done without seeing that; no wonder she’s depressed. Daryl tries to encourage her by saying she did good with finding this place. Rosita tells her she wasn’t ready. We also find out she was a twin (Dennis was her brother).
Daryl no longer hates the train tracks and they go back the faster way home. While walking, Denise sees a car and creeps towards it because she see a cooler and thinks it might be something useful. Both Daryl and Rosita say it isn’t worth it, but she goes after it anyway. The walker gets out, but she manages to take care of it and calls off our pros. Then the poor girl throws up.
And just as I was thinking this was a slow episode (while Denise gives an inspiring speech), SHE GETS SHOT IN THE FACE WITH AN ARROW MID SPEECH. What in the what. Then that loser who Daryl let go (and took his bike) comes out with a bunch of people in the woods and have Eugene. I need Abraham, to go ahead and TAKE THEM OUT.
That jerk (Dwight) has the nerve to ask Daryl if he has something to say to him. Daryl does say he should have killed him. We see Abraham peeking out of the corner. D then says they’re going to head to Alexandria and let them take whoever and whatever.
But then! Great plan with Eugene – he claims he’s turning on Abraham, but sets off a plan when he has them all distracted and then bites D in the manhood (no lie). This sets off chaos all kinds of chaos ending with Eugene being shot, a few of the crazies getting away and our folks taking Eugene to safety.
Good news is that the bullet just grazed Eugene and him and Abraham makeup in a comical manner.
We see Abraham standing outside of Sasha’s house and after she checks on him, he pretty much proclaims his love and she says come inside. So looks like we have yet another couple. I mean, y’all, love is in the air of Alexandria.
Daryl and Carol are burying Denise and it’s clear it really affected him. Poor Daryl.
Then just when you think it’s closing out, Carol writes her man a Dear John letter and leaves us all in shock. SHE LEFT ALL BY HERSELF. She said she can’t kill any more, so she left. Then the episode ends and I can’t even.
