Welcome to another Walking Dead recap! As always, this post has spoilers from the episode, so if you haven’t seen it yet, feel free to read previous recaps first!
Alright, so early on we figure out it’s been weeks (two months to be exact) since all the chaos of last week’s episode. We start with Rick making his belt tighter (code for they need food), there’s even a framed picture of one-eyed Carl and Judith. Also, Michonne is in the house, after she just took a shower, like a family member and her and Rick share quite a few smiles and a little high five as they leave. Then he goes to get her toothpaste. I’m so glad what I thought about this turned out to be true!
Rick and Daryl head out on a supply run to grab some much needed supplies. They’re looking for some food and people. Rick also plays some music that Daryl has strong feelings against. It seems that everyone is in a happy spot, so naturally that made me insanely nervous.
While Michonne is on guard, she sees Spencer head off into the woods and climbs down to go and track him. Maggie finally finds Enid and asks where she’s been, while everyone is getting the place together. I’m a fan of Maggie! She reaches out to Enid, reminding her she’s there to talk.
Daryl and Rick come across a barn and find a truck full of supplies. My first thought was the walker trap from the wolves, but it turns out it’s full of lots and lots of supplies. They take the truck and go another route home and find a gas station. They spend some time flipping over a soda machine (Denise’s request for Tara) and while they are checking it out, my heart nearly fell out of my body when some guy with a bandana jumps on Rick.
I don’t know about this dude. He claimed he was running from walkers. This Paul guy then takes off and says he’s by himself. Right. As Rick said, he was too clean and his beard was way too trim. While Rick and Daryl are discussing such things firecrackers go off and then the punk steals their truck! He swiped Ricks keys…I knew something was up.
Meanwhile, Michonne comes across Spencer staring at a walker walking up in the forest and she takes care of the walker with her sword. Spencer’s only explanation is he likes to walk after his shift. No explanation of the shovel he’s carrying and he doesn’t want Michonne to follow. But she does and he doesn’t seem to mind.
Next up Carl and Enid are taking a stroll through the woods. They find a balloon, but the letter was wet, so no luck in finding out what it said.
Carl and Daryl are running down the highway and come across the vending machine. They grab some snacks and hit the trail again.
Carl and Enid are having some snacks and reading some magazines in the forest. They hear some noises and turns out it was Michonne and Spencer. Carl sits back down, but Enid admits she doesn’t want to come out in the forest anymore. Carl puts his stuff away and says okay. As they’re walking back, they come across a walker. Y’all, what’s up with Carl? He won’t kill a walker and then gets nasty with Enid. She leaves him and then he’s just staring at the walker. Buddy.
Daryl and Rick have made me tired with all the running they’ve been doing, but they find the truck. Turns out Paul is also part ninja, but between the two of them, they take him down and get the keys. They leave him losely tied up and then drive away with some lovely parting words for Paulie. I didn’t think that was the last of our friend and it wasn’t – he was on the roof of the car. This wild goose chase begins with Rick chasing him in the car and Daryl on the ground. Ninja saves Daryl by shooting a walker, but manages to release the break and bye bye truck…. it goes into the water and sinks. Sad day.
Spencer tells Michonne he has to try to take care of something and that she can’t help. Then we see the walker Carl found and SADNESS, it’s Spence’s mama, Deanna! Let’s make us all depressed again (although how she was not completely eaten by the walkers is a mystery to me…I’ll let it go though, makes for a healing moment). It all makes sense – he has seen her before and was in the woods looking for her, so he could end it. Michonne also helps him mark the grave and bury her.
I loved her chat about family. Don’t forget that Spence!
“I’ve been chasing you all over the woods. You still have family, you still have a home.” Michonne
So Rick and Daryl didn’t leave the Ninja in the woods and Daryl was stuck with a passed out version of him. This guy interests me.
Michonne confronts Carl on why he was letting walker Deanna go and he said it’s because it should be someone who is family to do the deed. That he lead her to Spencer too, Carl understood what that was like. Then they have a moment and hug it out.
Ninja Paul must have been knocked out pretty solid, because by the time they get home he is still out solid.
And then! And then!!! I’m not going to lie, I’ve liked the idea of Rick and Michonne since forever, so awwwww!! They have been through so much together, Carl loves her and she loves them! Let me also say this: SHE BETTER NOT FOLLOW THE PATH OF PREVIOUS LOVE INTERESTS. Do you hear me Walking Dead? Just don’t.
Oh and then what? CREEPY Ninja pops up in the bedroom. I’m sorry, but what in the what creeper?
