Announcing The 2015 Jody Hedlund Challenge!!!

January 17, 2019 by Jamie

Of the many reasons I love book blogging, two of them include the friends you meet, whether fellow bloggers or authors (and sometimes both!). It truly is a unique and incredible community. Today, I’m excited to announce an exciting 2015 challenge my friend Cassie, from Bookshelves and Windows, came to me about and I immediately joined in. Why? It’s way fun and we’re featuring one of my favorite authors, Jody Hedlund.

The 2015 Jody Hedlund Challenge is where we’ll read one of Jody’s books each month and then have something fun the next month! Much like my Inklings series set-up, we’ll announce the book and the following month chat about it! Sometimes it might be discussion questions, guest post, and maybe even a Google + chat (in which I’ll apologize now for how awkward I am on video) and other fun stuff! It’s really all about giving people a chance to read fantastic historical fiction and give me an excuse to re-read them (because I love all of her books. Seriously.)

Fans of historical fiction, join in the #HedlundChallenge2015! It’s going to be so much fun!

If you haven’t had a chance to read Jody’s books, you are in for a treat! If you have, I invite you to join in the awesomeness! We’re kicking off January with Unending Devotion, which is perfect for January – it’s Trafficking Awareness Month and that’s something this book deals with. You can check out my review here.

Feel free to grab the graphic and spread the word about #HedlundChallenge2015!

I’d like to participate in this! I’ve read a good number of books by Jody Hedlund. Looking forward to your activities; AND I am sure you won’t sound awkward AT ALL on video, Jamie. You go, girls. Fun idea!

    • Jamie

Yay!!! So glad you’ll join in!! Oh man, no promises about the video – I’m sure there will be plenty of “ums” 🙂

  • cdguylhs

I don’t read much historical fiction but my wife does. I am entering this for her and also sharing with her.

    • Jamie

Awesome!! Thank you so much – I hope she gets a chance to read a few of Jody’s novels!

  • Kelly Bridgewater

I’d like to participate in this. I will help share this on Facebook, and I would live to win Jody ‘ s news book. Thank you! My favorite historical writer is Julie Lessman! Witty, cute, and sappy all in one book! Merry Christmas!

    • Jamie

Julie’s books are so fun! The Daughters of Boston is still one of my favorite series of hers – how about you?

Excited to have you join in and thanks for spreading the word!

  • Shannon

Haven’t read any but I’m game! My favorite historical reads are The Book Thief, Diary of Anne Frank are my top 2

    • Jamie

Yay! Happy to have you join in! The Book Thief was such a beautiful story. I still need to watch the movie. And Diary of Anne Frank is incredible too!

  • Karen Collier

This sounds like so much fun! I can’t wait to see what you and Cassie have in store for us. I’ve only read one book by Jody Hedlund so far, but I’m definitely on board for reading more!

    • Jamie

Super excited to have you join in Karen! Jody’s books are the best! Which one have you read?

      • Karen Collier

So far the only one I’ve read is her novella “Out of the Storm,” but I loved it and look forward to reading her novels. I already have copies of The Preacher’s Bride and Love Unexpected in my TBR list, and I just found a good deal on the audio version of Unending Devotion, so that’ll be my next audiobook listen. Looking forward to it. 🙂 Do you have a favorite of Jody’s books?

        • Jamie

Sweet! I think Rebellious Heart is still my favorite (although I have loved every single one!).

Unending Devotion is especially calling my name. Ending human trafficking is one of my issues, and my own readers will be hearing more about that next month.

    • Jamie

Always happy to have you join in! Excited to see what you’ll be posting next month – it’s definitely an issue I’m passionate about as well.

  • Stephanie Jenkins

My favorite fiction historical reads are by Julie Klassen. I don’t read any non-fiction historical books.

    • Jamie

Oh my word – Julie Klassen is awesome! I have her new one and can’t wait to dive in while traveling next week. Do you have a favorite of her’s? I think the Maid of Fairborne Hall is still one of my favs.

      • Stephanie Jenkins

They are all really good. But my favorite so far is The Dancing Master. I haven’t read her newest one, The Secret at Pembrooke Park. I can’t wait to read that one too.

River of Time series caused me to miss many hours of sleep. I couldn’t put them down! Deeanne Gist is so fabulous too! A Bride Most Begrudging is one of my all-time favs. I haven’t read any of Angela Hunt, but I have Esther in my TBR pile and have heard excellent things about it!
