“Place your foot on shale, and it will crumble beneath you. Grab a hold of a loose ledge, and your hand will slip. But hold tight to the mountain itself, and it will hold you up.”
And with that start and introduction, you know this book is full of encouragement and Truth of God’s word. If you are at all familiar with She Reads, you’ll fully enjoy this book. If you’re not, I fully believe you still will love this book!
She wants faith, hope, and love.
She wants help and healing.
She wants to hear and be heard, to see and be seen.
She wants things set right.
She Reads Truth tells the stories of two women who discovered, through very different lives and circumstances, that only God and His Word remain unchanged as the world around them shifted and slipped away. Infused with biblical application and Scripture, this book is not just about two characters in two stories, but about one Hero and one Story. Every image points to the bigger picture—that God and His Word are true. Not because of anything we do, but because of who He is. Not once, not occasionally, but right now and all the time.
What a encouraging, deeply felt and vulnerable memoir from both Meyers and Williams. They are so honest and open with the hard parts (and good parts!) of their journey, you can’t NOT come away from this book encouraged by the Truth of scripture and the promises of God and His goodness. Here’s three quotes that really hit:
“Until then, she reads Truth – not just for answers or equations, help or how-tos. She reads Truth to find the perfect and permanent One. She reads Truth because she needs Jesus.”
“God’s Truth gives our temporary lives eternal significance. It speaks forgiveness over our sin, hope over our despair, worth over our shame, and life over our death. In its light, everything matters.”
“Our Savior does more than fill in the gaping holes of our brokenness. Our sovereign Lord does more than pick us up where we fall short. Our holy God holds all things together. He holds us together. His word is not something we add to our life to get us from dawn to dusk. His Word is life.”
If you enjoy reading people’s stories, then definitely add this to the list!
