Last week I was in Nashville and y’all…it was awesome! I had the chance to be part of the first ever Christian Fiction Reader’s Retreat and AFCW (I also got to see some longtime friends, but I’ll stick with CFRR and ACFW because, you know, books and all ;).
I got there early to set my Shoppe table up and it was such a joy to get to hear readers, authors and bloggers meet in real life for the first time and squeal, take pictures and start talking like they’ve known each other for years! I’ve said this a thousand times already, but what a joy it was to get to meet everyone I did in person!! And as if that wasn’t enough, getting to meet new friends, authors and readers alike, was an extra bonus. This book world is awesome and if you’re reading this, then you probably already know that. 🙂
Not only was meeting everyone so great, but I also loved hearing from authors, whether a bit about their writing journey or fun tidbits here and there. Every bit was all so encouraging. I loved that we prayed with and for each other and had a whole lot of fun. Here’s some pictures from the day (and I totally forgot to take pictures with some folks because I was in excitement mode all day!)
Meeting Rel was such a treat too! I love that she came all the way from Australia and I got to hang out with her! Missed the rest of the INSPYs ladies :).
I also had the chance to spend time at ACFW on Thursday and as if I needed confirmation, this confirmed it – I love my job. I had the chance to meet and hangout with some of my authors (I will never tire of saying that!) and I’m so excited for what’s coming next from so many of them. I also failed on all fronts when it came to picture moments, but trust me, these women are incredible and amazing and I love their hearts. It was also a gift to meet awesome author friends and industry friends I’ve only ever know through the internets.
Y’all, it was all a dream come true and while I was bummed to leave Nashville, I was so excited to get back to The Springs and work (that last statement can get filed under “Things I’ve never said before right after getting back from vacation!”)
I’m already excited for next year and hope I’ll get to go to both events again – they were so worth it and so much fun!!
If you went, what did y’all think? If anyone else wants to plan a reader event, please let me know, because I’ll be there ready to talk about all the books.
