(The Inklings Series is a monthly series featuring the works of my two favorites, J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis, or books about them. But I don’t want it to be just me chatting about these books, so that’s where y’all come in! I’ll announce the book at least four weeks in advance of when the discussion post will go live, so you have plenty of time to get the book and read it. Then, the following month, I’ll post a discussion post and let the fun begin!!)
Y’all this might be the world’s shortest Inklings Discussion ever. And by “might be” I mean, 100% absolutely! But that’s okay because it’s days away from Christmas and soon we’ll get to say a very loud and bold BYE FELICIA to 2016. Not that I’m ready or anything.
I digress :). All I have today are a few thoughts on each and we’ll go from there!
Bilbo’s Last Song
Well Bilbo’s Last Song took all of 83 seconds to read (y’all I knew it was short, but dang), but I still liked it. I can picture Bilbo singing this as he made his way with the elves. It made me want to watch the series again (It’s been a few months, so about time!). Is it weird that I want this and scenes from The Last Battle (Further Up and Further In!) read at my funeral? Probably, but there you have it.
It was fun to see drawings and the creativity both Jack and Warner had at such a young age. I absolutely adore the creativity of children. It’s a mix of chaos and randomness, but the very best kind. The stories made me laugh. Who would have thought what would come decades later?
And my only discussion question would be: what did y’all think of these?
