I first need to give a shout out to my fabulous Austin hair dresser, Nicole, because she has been telling me about this book for at least a year. No really, she kept telling me about it, but it wasn’t released yet in the US, so I was having a hard time getting it without paying beacoup (we’re talking near $20.00) for a Kindle version. But FINALLY it has some to the United States of America and I snagged it.
I Let You Go follows Jenna Gray as she moves to a ramshackle cottage on the remote Welsh coast, trying to escape the memory of the car accident that plays again and again in her mind and desperate to heal from the loss of her child and the rest of her painful past.
At the same time, the novel tracks the pair of Bristol police investigators trying to get to the bottom of this hit-and-run. As they chase down one hopeless lead after another, they find themselves as drawn to each other as they are to the frustrating, twist-filled case before them.
This is one of those books where when all was said and done I wanted to immediately re-read it and look for clues. With a twist like this one, trust me you would feel the same. I think the only other book that threw me like this one was the plot twist of Gone Girl (That book kept you hooked, but the whole story is much more dark, twisted, and left me feeling disturbed about humanity. I need some kind of redemption in books). It was like the drop in The Sixth Sense. I mean WHA?? This book kept me on my toes. And y’all, this was her debut!
This is a book that lived up to the hype friends. Plots twists, the characters, the story. Oh my.
Her different POVs work perfectly for the story and I could not stop reading. Seriously. Please read this, so we can discuss! Because if I say anything else, I’ll give all the secrets away. So I’ll end this by saying if you like thrillers, then this one is for you.
(Heads up: Minor language and adult themes)
What’s one of your favorite thrillers? Also, if you’ve read this…LET’S DISCUSS!
