The book, Looking for Lovely, is one of my favorite reads this year. I loved what Annie did with the book – such awesome reminders about the little things in life. It was an inspiring and encouraging read I think every woman should read. This bible study is just as awesome!
As Christians, we are not promised lives of ease. Often it takes just a small moment of beauty to regain hope and continue on when life is chaotic and unpredictable. Only when we learn to spot the lovely in the midst of hardship can we experience the transcendent peace of God that keeps us persevering when we want to give up.
In this 7-session Bible study, Annie F. Downs examines the ordinary people of the Bible—fishermen, gardeners, women, soldiers—to reveal the moments they found beauty in the darkest circumstances and hope in God’s timing. Because they trusted in this: He makes everything beautiful in His time.
This week a few girlfriends and I started this bible study. After reading it, I knew I wanted to go deeper, so I recruited some awesome ladies. That’s how much I’m a fan. I’m so excited to dive deeper into this with friends on all these topics over the summer.
If you haven’t read anything of Annie’s, then let me tell ya – her writing is like we’re having coffee (peach tea in my case) and hanging out. This is my kind of bible study. It’s inviting and encouraging in a lot of different ways.
There’s a group study and then a few days of individual study. This works perfect for me. If you prefer bible studies with 7 individual sessions, then you’re more spiritual than me ;). But I know myself and there’s many occasions where one day needs to be divided into two :).
Have y’all read any of Annie’s books? What’s a bible study you recommend?
(Thank you to B&H publishers for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review)
