Dear movie making world, you need to make this series into three (I’d be okay with four) movies. Thanks.
I figured I would combine my reviews for the two final books in the series since I may have read through them in record time (here’s the review of Waterfall, the first book in the series). I seriously and thoroughly enjoyed Cascade and Torrent, following the adventures, battles, close calls, laughter, heartache and of course love.
There were some moments where I didn’t think I could read them fast enough, stressing out about characters. But that’s what makes a book great right?
Bergren also throws up some pretty inspiring quotes too. Check out some of my favs:
“Maybe it’s because these people – I waved around us – are so close to death all the time that they know something we don’t – how to embrace life. Really live. Take every minute for what it’s worth. Maybe we’ve lost something vital in our own time.”
“Loyalty is not loyalty unless one clings to it in the face of adversity. No?”
I think the trick to living fully,” I said, thinking through each word, “is to appreciate what we have, day by day, regardless of what we know might come our way.” “If I live in fear of what might be, how can I truly live my life to the full in the present? And if I do not give myself to the day, to hope, to life, what so I miss?…Life itself, I think. At least the way I wanna live it.”
Also, I found out there are two novellas for the River of Time series. Shall I be reading those? Yep! Check out Bourne and Tributary if you’re like me and NEED more of Gabi, Lia, Marcello, Luca and the rest of the medieval Italian crew!
