Has any one read this series?? I need to know, because I seriously need someone to talk to about it! Who knew a series about the Amish would keep me up nights (and thus suffer at work the next day), cause me to yell at fictional characters, want to punch people in the face and even dream about the story. That’s right dream.
After finishing Book 2 late one night, I was really stressed about how the series would end, because if it didn’t end my way I would need to have a book counseling session (y’all know what I’m talking about. I’m still angry about Gone With the Wind and The Inheritance Cycle). I won’t say much more about the story or how it ended (even though I really, really want to), but wow, Cindy Woodsmall’s Sisters of the Quilt Series had me hooked and I definitely recommend it!
It’s no wonder these books are New York Time bestsellers. Woodsmall writes incredibly intriguing fiction about the world of the Amish. Drawn to write about the Amish culture from her childhood best friend (who was an Amish Mennonite), Woodsmall brings to light a culture many people really don’t know much about (i.e. me). Not only is that aspect intriguing, but I love Hannah’s character and how she grows, deals with the wrongs done to her and even though each step isn’t perfect, she learns from each one and is stronger because of it. I appreciated how the book was real, as if it could actually have happened. Not everything for everyone worked out perfect or how they thought it would have, but it all ended up a bit better.
And now I kinda want to go see an Amish town.
P.S. Did you know you can “borrow” e-books from the library for your Kindle?? They are sent to your device and after two weeks disappear. Genius library. Genius.
